Penland School of Crafts: A Creative Retreat for Talent

This weekend marked the annual fundraising auction for Penland School of Crafts nestled in a quiet spot within the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  Despite predictable muggy weather that comes with an outdoor event this time of year, collectors and art lovers from all over the country come to tour the studios, see emerging talent, and buy from established alumni to help raise funds for this growing school.

I'm always in awe at the talent in residence and have some images to share that hopefully inspire you too.  The students specialize in a range of disciplines like glass blowing, blacksmith and other metal work, woodwork, printmaking, weaving, jewelry design, and so much more.  I always sway from thoughts of giving up on my creative work to wanting to runaway to create full-time...but always end up satisfied with the path my creative journey has lead me and that I get to be a part of this community at least once a year.
